John Ashworth

President

John Ashworth has served as President of The Baptist Foundation of Alabama since July 2021. He joined The Foundation in January 2014 as Chief Administrative Officer. John has oversight of all aspects of the Foundation’s ministry, including trust operations, ministry engagement, and investments. Prior to joining the Foundation, he was a licensed securities professional, having spent fifteen years working in the capital markets. Most recently, he was a Vice President with Merchant Capital, LLC (a division of Stifel Nicolaus), the most active municipal bond underwriter in the states of Alabama and Georgia. Previously, John worked as an equity research analyst with Jefferies & Company and J.C. Bradford & Co. While at Jefferies, he was a member of a two-person equity research team ranked second in The Wall Street Journal’s, “Annual Best on the Street Master Stock Pickers Analyst Survey”. Prior to this, John served as an analyst at Louden & Company, a strategic consulting firm. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. John is an active member of First Baptist Church Montgomery, where he has served in a variety of leadership positions. John is married to the former Ivy Jackson, and they have two children.
