A fund has been created to honor Lonette upon her retirement. The Berg Legacy Endowment Fund will provide a source of continuing support to the Commission to perpetuate and expand upon Lonette Berg’s tireless work in documenting and celebrating our collective Baptist heritage through preservation of church records, recognition of key historical events and anniversaries, and recording of oral histories, thus informing, and enriching our Christian ministry across Alabama.
The “Lonette L. Berg Legacy Endowment Fund” was established to recognize the exemplary and faithful service of Lonette Berg, Executive Director of the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, who served more than twenty years on the staff and as executive director. The Fund honors her longstanding leadership to the Commission by advancing its mission of preserving and commemorating our state’s Baptist history “for future generations, so that a people not yet created may praise the Lord” (Psalm 102:18).
Linda’s influence extended far beyond the church walls. Whether caring for children in the preschool area, volunteering in the nursery, or working as a private nanny, Linda’s caring nature touched the lives of many. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared and the countless lives she influenced.
